Te he! A totoro!

Homage to my favorite childhood movie, My Neighbor Totoro. I used my versa mark pen to draw and emboss the totoro, then colored the whole card front with my new chalks. The acorns inside the sweet treat cup are made out of sculpy clay. 

Glory in the Highest

Oh so busy this time of year! Sorry for the long time without a post, but here I am. My latest endeavor has been to create backgrounds for the media presentation portion of my church's Christmas cantata. It's called "Glory in the Highest: A New Hallelujah," and it combines the Christmas story and worship music. Here are the backgrounds I made for the songs where the congregation sings along with the choir - they were all done in Painter. (with my trusty pastels of course!) My favorite is the star, which was for "O Holy Night."

Mary & Martha

I thought I'd start with my most recent illustration. I've been on a bit of kick doing children's Biblical illustrations - this one is of Mary and Martha.

This a little different technique than I normally do. I scanned my original sketch, used digital images for the background, then scanned in a pastel coloring of my sketch to use for the characters (mainly because Photoshop wouldn't let me blend like I wanted to, and Painter wasn't handling my large image fast enough).
