Moon Doodles

This week's Doodle United theme was "moon." I had lots of ideas, but only a few of them worked well in execution. Here are the best two which I submitted to the group:

An explanation of the waning moon (assuming it really is made of cheese)  ; )
Sketched and then colored with the trusty old crayons:

This one is a take on the nursery rhyme "Hey Diddle Diddle."
Got the idea after I sketched the cow jumping over the moon. Done in Illustrator:

Parliament of Owls

Usually, when I start drawing one type of character, I end up on something of a frenzy - creating lots of them.
My latest obsession - owls.

I didn't revisit the owls until recently, when I started doing silversmithing.
I went looking around on Etsy for ideas and found an artist named VernonBea who had several cool ones in her shop. Click here to visit VernonBea's shop.
Anyway, I found my inspiration. Hoot was my first attempt at an owl:

Next, once I got some thicker silver plate, I made these guys:

Then, at the covered bridge festival, I found this adorable water bottle carrier and tissue snuggie from ~forevermore~. Well, it's actually the fabric that's adorable:
I asked the artist, Alisha, if she could make me a purse from the same fabric, but she wasn't sure she could get anymore. So I started looking online for the fabric (with no success), but while I was searching I kept running across all these adorable stuffed owls. I started sketching some more owls:
And then I decided to make one of my own.

Meet Milo:

More owls coming soon!

Hoot

I finally got my silversmithing supplies and have been busy making rings and necklace pendants. I will post pictures soon of everything I've done so far, but this guy came out so well I just had to post him first.
I give you - Hoot:

A Few More Birdies

Okay, so when I start doodling a type of character or critter, I usually do several (or alot!) of them. So - here's a few more birdies. Personally, I'm rather fond of the one with the mohawk.
